Abstract: The objective of this work was to define the best alternative methods for estimating the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) in the main climatic types (Cfa and Cfb) of the state of Paraná, Brazil. The methods tested were Budyko, Camargo, Hargreaves-Samani, Linacre, and Thornthwaite, which were compared to the ETo calculated with the Penman-Monteith ASCE (EToPM) method, between 1986 and 2015, in eight meteorological stations. The performance of the alternative methods was obtained from the coefficient of determination (R2), index “d” of agreement, index “c” of performance, and root mean square error (RMSE). The climatic projections for this century indicate the possibility of severe consequences for human beings, especially for agriculture where adverse effects to productivity of crops and to agribusiness as a whole may occur. An agrometeorological model was used to estimate sugarcane yield in tropical southern Brazil, based on future A1B climatic scenarios presented in the fourth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, in 2007. Os lisímetros de pesagem determinam a evaporação ou evapotranspiração pelo balanço de massa de água e são considerados padrões para aferição dos demais métodos. Para a obtenção de medidas confiáveis, sua calibração deve ser realizada no local de uso. O objetivo deste trabalho foi apresentar detalhes da construção de uma bateria de dez lisímetros de pesagem, calibrá-los e testar sua capacidade de medir variações de massa de água em condições de campo. Generally, standard lysimeters include a lever-load cell scale, which has become expensive compared to new electronic equipment available for experimental purposes. Currently, lysimeters containing weighing bars with up to 4 load cells are economically feasible. This goal of this study was to present the construction and calibration of four weighing lysimeters built using two rectangular tanks, with a surface area of 1.35 m2 (1 m by 1.35 m) and a depth of 1.5 m, loaded on two weighing bars. ABSTRACT Quantification of the drained volume is one of the difficulties involved in using weighing lysimeters. Typically, this volume is measured by accessing a moat at the base of a lysimeter. However, it is not feasible to install the moat in small devices.
